I hope you are all doing fine and enjoying autumn.
I would like to share some very interesting news with you all and update you with some achievements of BaA over the last few weeks.
BaA members had a meeting on 3 May and our main agenda was action for ‘Event 2014’ in Sydney and Canberra. As you all know, we need to book the calenders of our honourable keynote speaker and delegates, architects, guests as soon as we can to make it a success in every way and as always.
The discussion was a fruitful one and we all came to an agreement with support of our Executive Committee that October 2014 will be a suitable time for the event.
One of our main focus was to have professor Yunus as key note speaker and it is my pleasure to share with you all that Professor Yunus has agreed to our request.
You all will be excited to know that we are approaching to a grand event and the venue is one and only, the landmark “Sydney Opera House”.
And it will be a grand one with all your involvement, participation and support. We have so many task and preparation on our way before the event and we need to take some immediate actions. Both IAB and AIA confirmed to be partners in the event.
Architect Rafiq Azam has agreed for two scholarships for Australian students from Sydney and Melbourne. This is a great achievement for BaA.
There was a discussion between BaA and the ‘International Mother Language Monument Committee’ in Canberra to have possible involvement of BaA to launch a design competition.
Our first news letter is in progress.
Our executive members also taking initiative to have a discussion between BaA and ‘Lets Work for Bangladesh‘ to support its project in Bangladesh. It’s time to create a footprint of BaA in Bangladesh. We will discuss about possibilities and options about any contribution from BaA.
Already Architect Paul Pholeros recognised BaA’s contribution and appreciated all the supports for his work in Bangladesh.
We are hoping to have a get together in Canberra soon.
It is my request to you all, please do not make any commitment to any potential guest speakers without any advice from Executive Committee. Please consider this to avoid any misunderstanding.
Also, to finish with, I would like to request all our members to explore how we can raise fund for the grand event. We also need fund to create some more opportunity for BaA to be involved in different community project to establish our footprint in Australia and abroad.
Wish you all the best.
